100 Experiments (100E) is AI Singapore’s flagship programme to solve industries’ artificial intelligence (AI) problem statements and help them build their own AI teams.

100 Experiments (100E) is AI Singapore’s flagship programme to solve industries’ artificial intelligence (AI) problem statements and help them build their own AI teams.
An organisation can propose 100E problem statements where no commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) AI solution exists, but they can potentially be solved by Singapore’s ecosystem of researchers and AI Singapore’s engineering team within 9 to 18 months.
AISG will provide funding of up to SGD$330,000 per 100E project for the Principal Investigators (PI) from Singapore’s autonomous universities, A*STAR research institutes or other Singapore-based publicly funded research institutions to work on the organisation’s problem statement. The organisation is then required to match the funding in-kind (AI/engineering/IT/domain manpower) and in cash.
An engineering team from AISG will be assigned to join the PI and his research team for an 18-month 100E project or fully undertake a 9-month 100E project to develop and deploy an AI minimum viable model. The AISG team is staffed by full-time AI, data and platform engineers as well as apprentices from the AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP)®.
AI Singapore will assist the organisation with:
- Definition of AI Problem
- Recruitment of AI Engineers (apprentices who have completed the AIAP®)
- Design of AI infrastructure and architecture (if required)

100E Tracks Aligned with AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP)®
To simplify and accelerate the 100E processes, we have designed two 100E programme tracks closely aligned with the AIAP:
100E for Research (100E4R)
In 100E4R, the industry problem statement is novel and requires extensive research by the PI and an AI minimum viable model can be delivered within 18 months. The PI will work on the problem statement with his team of postdoctoral researchers, Research Fellows, PhD students and/or Research Assistants. The AI Singapore engineering team and AIAP apprentices are provided on the request of the Project Sponsor and/or PI.
100E for Industry(100E4I)
In 100E4I, the research component in the industry problem statement is less and the AISG engineering team will be able to undertake the project end-to-end and will be assisted by a PI on a consultancy basis, if required. The project will be completed with the delivery of an AI minimum viable model within 9 months.
The Project Sponsor is encouraged to make an employment offer to the apprentices assigned to the Project Sponsor’s 100E project. Employment can only commence after the apprentices have completed their AIAP.

The AI Singapore team was highly professional and had strong technical skills. The apprentices who worked on the project are competent and are
well-supported by a good ecosystem of AI professionals should they need guidance or advice. They delivered a workable minimum viable product of the AI solution within a short span of 7 months.

Lifts are critical assets in the dense urbanized communities across the world. The combined factors of aging lifts and changing usage patterns will change the performance and maintenance of the lifts. With the use of AI, Surbana Jurong is now able to better understand and maintain the 26,000 lifts monitored by us.

The team from AISG provided much-needed expertise and diligence to help us design and craft the data pipeline and models for this effort – vital to this project’s success.
Plunify
This is NUS Libraries’ first attempt in developing an AI recommender in partnership with AISG. We are excited to deploy the recommender on a larger scale as beta and we hope to gather feedback from our researchers, and if possible, to improve the AI recommender further. We hope
this partnership will achieve what we set out to do and that the engine will take in a query in real-time and return a list of alternative recommended items to complement the default search results. Personalised experience for users is very important to us. We look forward to the AI
recommender returning results which will encourage reading of a diverse set of publications.
